Jeremy Kruis: So we're in Grand Rapids tonight. We heard that it is Beer City USA.
[Musique]
Jeremy Kruis: Okay, this is Michael Sho. What are you expecting?
Michael Sho: To have great tasting, well-brewed beer. Welcome to Vivant!
Restaurant Host: Yeah, well, we are Belgian and French inspired cuisine as well as Belgian and French inspired beer. Separates us I'd say from other places is that we take our food just as serious if not more serious than our beer.
Jeremy Kruis: All right, thank you so much. All right. Uh tonight we're going to get flights so we're going to try the Farmhand, Triumph, Big Red Dog, and The Undertaker.
Michael Sho: If you look behind you, that's where they brew the beer which is really cool.
Jeremy Kruis: Cheers. Okay, that definitely has a dark chocolate kind of coffee flavor.
Michael Sho: I feel it's different from the rest where they're all sweeter and this is more on like the bitter side.
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah, it's a good way of putting it.
Michael Sho: Yeah.
Jeremy Kruis: A little bit like uh Grand Rapids.
Michael Sho: Little bit like Grand Rapids it's true.
Jeremy Kruis: Except in the summer. Summertime, I feel like Grand Rapids in the summer is a little bit like the Farmhand, and it comes into fall over here Springtime and then this Undertaker is winter for sure.
Micahel Sho: Full time.
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah.
Micahel Sho: So out of these four which was your favorite?
Jeremy Kruis: Um probably between the Big Red Dog and the Triumph.
Micahel Sho: Triumph. I really like the Farmhand I like the Farmhand a lot yeah and the Big Red Dog. It's between those two for me.
Jeremy Kruis: Where are we going next?
Michael Sho: We're going to Founders next. See you then. Thank you so much.
Man With Bag: Yeah of course. Where's the next stop? Where's the next—
Michael Sho: Founders.
Man With Bag: Oh classic.
Jeremy Kruis: So we're going to go into Founders now Founders is more like the kind of like hipster a little bit grungy bar they got live bands maybe grunge is the wrong word but—
Michael Sho: I feel like it's definitely a lot more popular it's way more crowded.
Jeremy Kruis: Exactly the word I was going to use. Have inside and outside seating.
Michael Sho: Yes this is going be cool.
Jeremy Kruis: And we'll grab some beers.
Michael Sho: Let's go!
Woman: Check it out, check it out. It's a great bar. Welcome.
Jeremy Kruis: You're going to see a lot of young people here, a lot of students.
Michael Sho: This is definitely not a place to have like conversation like deep conversation like fun—
Jeremy Kruis: You're just going to drink beer and eat peanuts here.
Michael Sho: Pretty much.
Jeremy Kruis: But it's definitely one of the most popular bars in Grand Rapids so let's grab the beers let's go. So this here is called the All Day IPA.
Michael Sho: All right.
Jeremy Kruis: This is the Centennial so give us a taste, let us know how it is.
Michael Sho: Wow, my senses are sharp I feel it, this is very similar to the Triumph. Here, give it a taste.
Jeremy Kruis: Now that is a good IPA.
Michael Sho: Right.
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah it's not too strong it's nice finishes well and it doesn't hit you too hard.
Michael Sho: Exactly.
Jeremy Kruis: Your senses do keep going.
Michael Sho: Yeah.
Jeremy Kruis: So I'm going to try the Centennial.
Michael Sho: Yeah, go for it.
Jeremy Kruis: Okay, the Centennial is a little bit more bitter it's a little bit sweet it almost tastes like a floral bouquet.
Michael Sho: It tastes like a floral bouquet!
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah it's like a bouquet of flowers in my mouth right now but a little bit bitter. Yeah, you give it a taste.
Michael Sho: Wow it's definitely flowery. It's bitter but not like super bitter.
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah.
Michael Sho: It's definitely not like the dark chocolate coffee one we had earlier—
Jeremy Kruis: Yeah.
Both: The Undertaker.
Jeremy Kruis: All right, well should we enjoy these beers?
Michael Sho: All right.
Jeremy Kruis: Have some peanuts, have some chips, cheers—
Michael Sho: Cheers.
Jeremy Kruis: To Founders.
